UNDERGROUND MYSTERIES — July 17, 2023
Lee Matthew Mitchell is a father of three who was last seen on March 11, 2020 in Loganville, Walton County, Georgia when he was 32 years old.
This underrepresented cold case has not received much media attention. In order to recreate Mitchell’s timeline, I collected clues by sorting through archives and public records, and I spoke with several of Mitchell’s loved ones.
Mitchell’s loved ones state that he vanished very suddenly, and they are worried for his safety. He used to work daily and would come home each night straight from work. His grandmother’s vehicle, a 2011 Honda Accord, is also missing. On the night of his disappearance, he was seen at a parts store that he frequented in Gwinnett. One of the workers at the store noted that he appeared to be in visible distress.
Mitchell is a Caucasian male with blonde hair and blue eyes who stands at 6’2″ and weighs about 250 pounds. He has “sleeve” tattoos on both of his arms, one of which extends to an unspecified hand.
Born on October 1, 1988, Mitchell grew up in Loganville. He is described as a caring, fun-loving, handy, and hard-working father who loves bikes, motocross, cars, sports, the outdoors, landscaping, woodworking, animals, music, fishing, and most of all, his family and friends. His family states that he would have never intentionally left his grandmother, as they were very close.
