Underground Mysteries — September 9, 2025
Washington, D.C. – Nearly 22 years ago, on October 30, 2003, the body of an unidentified man was discovered behind a property in Washington, D.C. Despite efforts by investigators, his name and story remain unknown. Today, we share a newly created facial reconstruction image by Underground Mysteries and our sister company, Doe Naming, to help the public see what he may have looked like when he was alive.
At the time of this publication, there are no other news articles on this case, making it socially-absent. I wanted to ignite public interest in this case and utilize modern technology and social media to help search for clues to his identity.
Important note: The image in this article is not an actual photograph of the man. It is a digital reconstruction based off of his post-mortem photos designed to help trigger recognition. While it cannot be 100% accurate, it may help jog someone’s memory.
At the time of this unidentified man’s passing, he was described as a Hispanic/Latino male between 30 and 50 years old, who stood at about 5 feet tall and weighed about 116 pounds. He had black hair cropped to about a quarter of an inch, along with a black mustache and beard. His eyes were brown. Distinguishing features included a 3-inch scar on his left knee, multiple healed incision scars on the right side of his back, and a cross-shaped scar on his forehead. He also bore two notable tattoos: the word “Javier” on his left arm, and a depiction of Christ with a crown of thorns on his right arm.
For more than two decades, this man’s loved ones may have been searching for him without answers. A single person recognizing his tattoos, scars, or facial features could finally bring closure and restore his name.
