I reconstructed photos (shown at the bottom of this article) of a Jane Doe who was found in New York, New York on November 9, 1998 in hopes that it could bring forth clues to her identity. I have never seen her case circulating in the media, and I thought that I needed to create awareness. Let’s utilize modern technology to give her back her name.
Please keep in mind that these reconstructive photos are based off of her post-mortem photos and are only approximations of how she may have appeared when she was alive.
This young woman, who was estimated to have been 23–33 years old in 1998, was likely born anywhere from 1965 to 1975. She was a White (Caucasian) female who weighed about 105 pounds and was about 5’0″ in height. Keep in mind that her being listed as Caucasian is the presumption that was made by officers in 1998; her nationality and ethnicity are unknown, and she could have even had mixed heritage. She had brown hair and brown eyes. I do not know if her hair was wavy, straight, or curly, so I varied her hair in her photos.
This Jane Doe was reportedly struck by a train on the 8th Avenue Train Station and was subsequently taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Do you know anyone who disappeared from your life in 1998? There is a chance that she was estranged from family or did not have family searching for her, so she may rely on the public for help. Was she your classmate? Old coworker? Neighbor? Was she your relative?
