Today I present to you a highly underrepresented case of a woman named Marsha (Case) Austin who has been missing for several years from Marshall, White County, Arkansas. Her case has not been covered in any media outlets until now (this is the first one). Hopefully more media outlets will pick up her story upon publication of this article.
Austin’s case was brought to my attention by one of her relatives who commented on a Facebook post in a group I run for cold case missing people. She could not provide an exact date for Austin’s disappearance, but she stated that she believes it may have been about 20 years ago. It is undetermined if Austin is an unreported missing person or if she has a case with a police department; however, she does not have a profile in NamUs (the national governmental database for missing and unidentified people).
If Austin were alive today, she would be about 84 years old. When she went missing, she reportedly had gray hair.
I do not have many details on this case, nor do I have a photo of Austin, but I wanted to share this story as soon as possible, in case a Jane Doe that matches her description is being investigated. It seems like this case went cold years ago and that it had not been reopened; thus, this could imply that it is unlikely that a family member has submitted DNA to be compared against unidentified remains. Austin’s family member believes that she met with foul play.
I am posting this story before I am done my research (for the reasons mentioned above), but I will be updating this article accordingly after I get a chance to research her case more in depth and find a photo of her, get a more precise disappearance date, and learn more information of her disappearance by speaking to more relatives.
