Do You Recognize This Unidentified Man Who Passed Away in Bronx, NYC in 1991?

Underground Mysteries — January 5, 2024

The man you see in these photos passed away in the Bronx, New York City, New York on or around May 6, 1991. His identity has been unknown ever since, despite the fact that his case profile has been listed in NamUs (the national governmental database of missing and unidentified people) for several years. Surely someone must have known him. Does he look like any of your old classmates? How about an old coworker? Family member? An old friend?

This unidentified man had a recognizable face at the time of his death. He was visibly homeless, as he was sleeping on makeshift mattress, when he was tragically hit by a vehicle. His age at the time of his death was anywhere from 24 to 50, but most likely in his thirties. He was likely born anywhere from to 1941 to 1967. He had brown eyes and wavy or curly brown hair, with a beard and a mustache. His height and weight were estimated to be about 5’9″ and 155 pounds, respectively.

The race of this John Doe is unknown, but it is believed he was mixed race, with any of the following races: African American, Caribbean, Caucasian, or Hispanic.

I have created the photos you see in this article of what he may have appeared like when he was alive. Thus, these are only photo reconstructions and are not a perfect depiction of his appearance. The photos were strongly based off of his post-mortem photos, but I edited his facial expression and the background imagery to see if it would help prompt anyone’s memory of who he is. I also changed his nose structure, as it appeared that his nose may have been broken upon his death.

Keep in mind that because New York City, New York is so close to New Jersey, he may have been from either state. Or, he have even been from another state or even another country, as New York City is a popular tourist destination.

Please share this story in hopes his loved ones can find him!
